There are three kinds of joints in the human body which are the ball and socket joints, the hinge joints and the compressive joints. Ball and socket joints are those in the pelvis and leg connection as well as that of the shoulders. Hinge joints are found in the knee joints and the elbow joints, among others. Compressive joints are found in the spine, specifically in the lumbar area. These add movement in to the torso by giving it upward and downwards movement.
